Ranveer Singh is gearing up to team up with ‘HanuMan’ director Prasanth Varma for his upcoming film. Reports are rife that the film that he has signed is set against the backdrop of Indian mythology and that the film has been tentatively titled Rakshas. Reportedly, Ranveer’s character will also have shades of negative forces in the film.
A source close to the development informed Pinkvilla that “it’s a part of the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe, where the director is introducing several characters before bringing them all together in the finale. Ranveer is blown away by the vision and long-term plans that his director has for the universe and is excited to embark on the journey of Rakshas soon.”
Rakshas will be set in the pre-independence era
Reportedly, the script and the pre-visualisation of the film have been in place, and the makers are now figuring out the timelines of the shoot. The source added: “Ranveer has met Prasanth Varma and the team multiple times over the last few weeks and has already done a pooja for the film on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti in Hyderabad.
Rakshas is positioned as a historical drama unfolding in the pre-independence era, enriched with mythological elements. Ranveer’s role in the film is rumoured to embody a complex character with shades of negativity and darkness. While the specifics of his character arc remain undisclosed, the narrative promises to delve into the realm of Indian mythology.
Ranveer Singh is also slated to appear in Rohit Shetty’s ‘Singham Again’, featuring an ensemble cast including Deepika Padukone, Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, and Kareena Kapoor Khan. He is involved in Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Don 3’.
Last year, Farhan Akhtar unveiled Ranveer Singh as the new Don in the teaser for Don 3: The Final Chapter. The teaser included Ranveer’s voiceover, resonating with the awakening of a lion: “Sher jo so raha hain woh jagega kab, puchte hai yeh sab. Unse keh do phir jaag utha hoon main, aur phir samne jald aane ko.”
